Sherri Wheatley Workshop - Combos, Transitions, & Layering Fundamentals


Learn creative new combinations that really emphasize the “fusion” in tribal fusion bellydance. Develop techniques to make your combinations and choreography less predictable by utilizing different planes of space and exploring varied staging options. Strong emphasis is also placed on creating interesting transitions between combinations to make choreography more varied. A big part of creating variation is the addition of layering. Beginning with the basics and building up incrementally we will work on adding movements such as circles, figure eights, pops, locks and isolations to our combos. Special emphasis will be placed on arm variations. Mini “workshop within the workshop” will consist of several exercises that will help dancers connect to their inner muses and learn effective techniques to generate new choreography. We will also address the psychology of dance and practice finding varied motivations to be on stage such as predatory bellydance: stalk your audience and mona lisa smile: keep your audience guessing what you will do next...;) Workshop will conclude with a choreography composed of the various combinations and transitions we will learn in class.

Workshop cost is $50.00 per workshop if paid via cash, check, or money order or $51.75 if paid via Paypal.
